The winery is situated on the northeastern aspect of the Macedon Ranges wine region, 85 km north of Melbourne.

Perched atop the spectacular boulder-strewn hills of the Great Dividing Range at an altitude 550 metres, the view over Granite Hills vineyard and of central Victoria beyond, immediately gives you the impression of something quite special.

Trailblazers of viticulture and winemaking in what is statistically Australia’s coolest wine region, Granite Hills has celebrated success way beyond its size, winning more than 500 awards in Australian and International competitions.

Made from handpicked grapes harvested, grown on low-cropped 40 year old shiraz vines, utilising small batch fermentation techniques including hand plunging, followed by maturation in French and American oak hogsheads.

From the first vintage in 1978, Granite Hills Shiraz sets a benchmark for peppery Shiraz, renowned for its definitive flavour, balance, structure and ability to age gracefully in the bottle, given careful cellaring. The palate is rich, mouth-filling, well balanced and complete and the 2014 vintage certainly lives up to this. It finishes long, with a final grip of fine tannins and persistent spicy fruit flavours.
